The perfect dough for the cookie cutters
The tinplate cookie cutters are suitable for different types of dough. A simple shortbread dough is not only delicious, but also quick to make.
You need:
300 g Flour
150 g powdered sugar
8 g Vanilla sugar
1 egg
1 tsp baking powder
Zest of one untreated lemon
150 g butter
Here's how:
Simply mix all the ingredients together and knead into a firm dough. You can also use a kneading machine for this.
Now you can roll out the dough thinly and cut out the hearts. Make sure that your work surface, your hands, the rolling pin and the cookie cutters are mottled. This will prevent your dough from tearing during processing. A thinly rolled out dough will be crispy after baking. If you want your cookies to be softer, you can also leave the dough 0.5 cm thick. We recommend that you leave the dough 0.5 cm thick, as the cookie cutters leave an imprint in the cookie dough. This makes the biscuits look even more beautiful after baking.
Now place the cookies on a baking tray lined with baking paper and bake in a preheated oven at 200 degrees Celsius until golden brown.
A little tip: when to use cold butter and when to use room temperature or warm butter?
Quite simply: cold butter is ideal for doughs such as most cookie doughs. The cold butter holds the dough together and gives the dough stability. So use cold butter for your cookies and cookies. This makes it easier to lift the cut shapes onto the baking tray. If you notice that your dough is getting stickier and warmer, put the dough in the fridge for a few minutes.
Warm butter is used for smooth doughs. The butter is usually beaten with eggs and sugar to prevent lumps. This is usually the case with cake recipes.
If you now want to make your cookies with Royal Icing you take the royal icing mix to hand. Prepare the mix as described on the packaging. So that the icing doesn't just stay white, you can use the ProGel Color the icing with the different colors. Divide the icing into as many different bowls as the colors you want. A dab of the ProGel colors is enough to achieve an intense color. You can now spread the royal icing with a brush or a Cornet onto the cooled biscuit. Now you can add various sprinkles to the cookie. The cookie should now be placed in a dry place to dry for a while. This is probably the most difficult step for anyone with a sweet tooth!
Baking cookies is a great family activity for a weekend. There's nothing better than nibbling on the raw dough and decorating the cutters after baking. Decorating the cookies with colored royal icing, sugar icing or tempered chocolate is particularly fun. The cutters can also be used as cake cutters for cake decorating. Fondant or marzipan figures create the perfect highlights for a summery cake. To do this, roll out the fondant or marzipan with a rolling pin and baking starch and cut out the motifs.
The tinplate cookie cutters can simply be placed in warm water after use. After the cookie cutters have been soaked briefly in water, you can wash and dry them. The cutters are ready for their next use in no time at all.
