Spending an afternoon in the bakery creating sweet Guetzli is one of the best ideas for any weekend. If you want to create especially classy and colorful Guetzli, use a cookie dough that holds its shape especially well. This way you can then decorate the treats with colored icing and chocolate. Also small tags with a sweet embossed or sprayed message look great. The cookie cutters are made of plastic and can be easily cleaned in the dishwasher.
100 g sugar
200 g soft butter
1 egg
300 g flour
1/2 vanilla bean, scraped seeds
1 pinch salt
Beat the butter with the sugar until fluffy, add the egg and then stir in the remaining ingredients until you get a homogeneous dough. Wrap this dough in plastic wrap and place in the refrigerator overnight. The next day, roll out to a thickness of 5 mm and cut out as many cookies as possible. Then remove the cookies from the cookie cutter and place them on a baking paper. Reassemble the remaining dough and roll out again. Now you can add a sweet message or a pretty pattern to the cookies as you like with a Guetzli stamp or embosser. Bake the full tray at 170° C for 10 - 15 minutes.
Instead of enjoying your Guetzli right away, you can first give them a very special look by decorating them. To do this, mix an egg white icing (royal icing), for example. Divide it into smaller portions and color them differently. You can then use a cornet to give your cookies cute patterns and colors. You can also glue on sugar decorations or work with fondant. If you prefer it less sweet, you can also apply wonderful decorations with a little melted chocolate. In this way, each Guetzli becomes a small work of art.
Of course, other masses can be used as cookie dough. For decorations on cakes or cupcakes you can use different sugar masses or even modeling chocolate. These you knead a little, as appropriate, and roll out very thinly on baker's starch. The made molds can also be decorated and finished with royal icing and sugar decorations, as described above. Finally, they can be attached directly to your creation with a little edible glue from the tube or dried and used later.
The cutters are made of plastic, so they can be washed right after cutting in the dishwasher. So the baking is even more fun!
