All you have to do is add eggs and water to the sponge mix, stir the mixture well and put it in the oven. This saves you time and is very easy to use. Add eggs and water to the sponge mix in a bowl according to the instructions on the packet. If required, you can also add a flavoring to the mixture to give the sponge cake a different taste. Pour the finished batter into a cake ring and place in a preheated oven at 175 °C (fan oven 160 °C). You can also use a springform pan to bake the sponge cake. However, this will not achieve the same quality. The sponge cake will be less airy and appear heavier. You will also be able to cut fewer sponge slices.
You can now process the prepared sponge further. Remove it from the cake ring with a serrated knife. Then cut it into even slices using a cake cutter or a cake saw. Clean the previously used cake ring and place a cake insert strip in it. Now put a layer of sponge cake back in. Spread the filling of your choice on top. Different fillings combined with whole berries, for example, are interesting. Place another slice of sponge cake on top. If you don't want this to be visible from the outside, you can cut off about 0.5 cm of the edge. Then press it a little into the filling so that the base disappears completely into it. Once all the layers are in place, place in the fridge. As soon as the filling is firm, remove the cake ring and the insert strip.
