Matfer Bourgeat has a long history behind it. The foundation stone was laid in 1814 with the founding of the company. At that time, the workshop in which tinplate and copper moulds for pâtisserie were produced was still called "Maison Trottier". It was named after its founder, the young coppersmith and pewter caster Charles Trottier. As the name indicates, the atelier was opened in France, where it is still located today.

He had great success with his products and was able to publish his own first catalogue 21 years later. Of course, it looked very different from what we are used to today. Names, dates and descriptions were printed in squiggly letters, and there were even some pictures. So his buyers could simply choose what they wanted to order from the catalogue.

The business continued to grow steadily and after a few years Trottier was able to start exporting abroad. So the copper and tinplate moulds were also delivered to Constantinople, St. Petersburg and many other cities.

In 1899, the now very old Charles Trottier sold his company to Alphonse Delaverne. The latter had already been working at Maison Trottier since he was 20 years old and immediately set about expanding the range of products. In addition to moulds, other kitchen utensils could now be purchased in the shop. After a few years, he sold it on to his master craftsman Gaspard Mora. From then on the company bore the name G. Mora, but in 1947 the business was split. G. Mora became Mora and Matfer. The former specialised in sales to users, i.e. bakeries, confectioners and private individuals, while Matfer's target group was large-scale distributors.

The demand for high-quality moulds and baking aids remained high and after a few more years, the studio where the products were made became too small. So in 1967, Matfer's first factory was opened in Normandy.

Expansion continued and other companies were repeatedly bought up and incorporated. These included, for example, manufacturers of cutlery or the formerly spun-off part Mora.

Bourgeat, a shop in Lyon, was also taken over by Matfer. It had been founded in 1918 by Adrien Bourgeat and produced utensils and other equipment for the kitchen. A lot of emphasis was always placed on professional quality and ultimately the products were primarily manufactured for restaurants and large kitchens.

Today, the Matfer Bourgeat is one of the market leaders in the international trade of kitchen utensils. The days when only pâtisserie moulds were sold are long gone. Today, all kinds of tools, equipment and aids are manufactured and supplied to bakeries, restaurants, confectioners and vendors. From large refrigerated display cases to kitchen machines to moulds and praline decorating forks, everything is produced at Matfer. The individual locations each specialise in a particular area, which means that the highest quality can be guaranteed.

Matfer Bourgeat matfer attaches great importance to innovation and thus constantly strives for new designs and techniques. Usefulness is at the forefront. In order to guarantee this, confectioners, bakers and chefs are always consulted and the innovations are always extensively tested. The aim is to improve and simplify all processes. Health is also a focus. On the one hand, the health of the consumers is protected, as hygiene in production and design are given high priority.
