Flower cone small from styrofoam, 6 pieces
- Out-of-Stock
Conjuring up a flower from nothing is very difficult, but a styrofoam cone provides the perfect start for a noble flower. It imitates the centre of the real flower with pistil, ovary, stamens and the inner leaves wrapped tightly around it, creating a natural arched shape.
The manufacturer of the flower cones is called Hamilworth International and of course produces many other things. These include various other items needed for making sugar roses and other flowers. But you can also find other baking accessories with them.
The company is a subsidiary of Stat Floral Imports and Novelties Ltd. Today it is still a British family business and enjoys an excellent reputation in the cake art industry.
They started out selling products for making the artificial flowers. At that time, however, it was still a very new art, originating from Japan and China. The beautiful flowers were also very popular here and quickly found their way into the pâtisseries, where they were used to decorate various desserts.
Soon, other product lines were added. Hamilworth International expanded its range and exchanged ideas with bakers and patissiers to better meet their needs. Thanks to this intensive communication, the products are always up-to-date and perfectly adapted to the needs of professionals.
Thus, the company is one of the leading manufacturers of sugar flower accessories and sprays in the UK. The range includes paper-wrapped wires, florist ribbons, bows, various modelling and baking tools, boll wires and much more. They ship all over the world, the distribution centre is in the North West of England.
Today, they are still bringing innovations and new products to the market. Cake decorating is becoming more and more accessible and inspires people all over the world. Sugar flowers are of course one of the masterpieces, but you can also make them at home. Besides basic equipment, all you need is a little practice and you can create beautiful bouquets of flowers.
Of course, it takes a little practice and patience to conjure up a perfect flower. If you want to make it easier at the beginning, you can put a flower wire into the round part of the styrofoam cone and then into a cake dummy or similar. Then knead some flower paste, roll it out and shape it into rather small petals. You can use an appropriate cookie cutter for this, then work around the outside with a ball tool to create a beautiful flower edge.
The leaves are then placed around the top of the spike so that they cover it completely and form the closed inner part of the rose. A little food glue is best used to attach them. Then the next slightly larger petals are prepared in the same way and, if necessary, left to dry briefly. By slightly folding the lower part, you can create a little more space between the petal layers, so that the rose finally looks a little more open. Little by little, all the petals are glued on and draped to fit until the size is as desired.
Another way of making the rose requires a little more wire, sensitivity and experience. In return, larger, more open and more real-looking flowers can be made. For this, the petals are made individually and strung directly onto wire. Draped in their final shape, they are dried. The cone is covered as before so that it forms a nice centre. Then the individual leaves are arranged around it and the wires are twisted together accordingly.
Often, after the flower is finished, it is steamed, which gives the flowers a more realistic appearance. In addition, the flowers or the petals can be refined with colour. With powder paint and a fine brush, for example, the edges of the petals can be coloured a little darker or lighter. Also the centre of some flowers is often coloured differently, especially by the pollen. Try it out, just small accents of colour can have a huge effect!
