1946 Günthart & Co. KG was founded by Ernst Günthart in Niederhasli. At that time, the company was still based in a garage, but success soon followed. The founder put a lot of effort into his company and, with his presence at various confectionery and bakery exhibitions, ensured that he became known to large and small businesses that would later become his customers.

The first real production facility was built in Hohentengen in Germany, because at that time it was cheaper to import goods from Germany to Switzerland than in the opposite direction. Today, sugar decorations and wafers are still produced in Hohentengen. Over the years, the company expanded its product range. Today, many bakeries and confectioners buy decorations of all kinds from Günthart Dekor. They produce candles, marzipan figures, sugar roses, chocolate peel-off foils and much more. In the assortment of miniSchoggi you will find noble figures for wedding cakes from Günthart Dekor. Wedding couples in different poses and great wedding carriages are the eye-catcher par excellence!

With these decoration materials and a little skill, you can also create a breathtaking wedding cake for your friends or even for your own wedding.

To begin with, prepare a suitable cake. Whether sweet chocolate, fruity berries or exotic pineapple, create a dessert to suit the bride and groom's taste. The cake must then be made fondant-suitable, for this you need a buttercream or a solid chocolate ganache. Coat the cake with this so that the filling, which would soften the fondant or marzipan coating, no longer comes into contact with the chosen mixture. It may be necessary to cut out part of the cake, for example, to create a multi-tiered cake with a cake layer.

Then prepare the fondant or marzipan by kneading the mixture until smooth. Fondant tastes a little sweeter, but is very popular because of its pure white colour. Marzipan has a pleasant almond flavour, but is slightly yellowish. Sprinkle the work surface with a little baker's starch and then roll out the mixture.

Roll it out with a rolling pin or a rolling stick from the inside to the outside and turn the mass slightly again and again to create an even cover. Carefully lift this onto the fondant-suitable cake and smooth out the top. The sides are then carefully smoothed downwards, while the folds are carefully pulled out with the second hand. Finally, cut off the excess mixture. With a cake ribbon, a not quite perfect finish can be concealed easily and elegantly.

Now it's time for the decoration. You can make this a few days in advance. Take some fondant, red, pink or white are particularly elegant, but of course you can also use other colours. Knead the mixture a little and roll it out thinly. Then cut out some circles or clouds with the Easiest Rose cutter. You can flatten the edges with your fingers or a ball modelling tool for more delicate flowers.

The cloud of the Easiest Rose cutter is folded in half, pressed together a little and then rolled up from one side. If you only have a circle cutter at hand, place a few circles next to each other, slightly overlapping, and then roll them up. Of course you can also attach the circles individually to the growing rose. Then carefully bend the petals outwards a little to create a more open rose. You can either leave the finished flowers to dry or use them straight away. You can make many more types of flowers with cutters and silicone embossers. Leaves created with silicone embossers also look beautiful.

Once all the parts are prepared, you can finish the cake. First place the centrepiece of the decoration, the bride and groom or the carriage. Now place the flowers, leaves and roses around it. If there is a not so nice place, you can hide it well with some flowers. Do not place the flowers all over the place, but in a few places. For multi-tiered cakes, you can also pull down a strand of flowers by attaching them to the side of the cake with some edible glue.

It's best to just lay the flowers and leaves down first and then arrange everything the way you like it. Only when each rose has a good place should you start gluing and attaching them. This guarantees a beautiful wedding cake with a wonderful bride and groom!
