Cake Craft Europe is today one of the largest producers of articles for decorating cakes, tarts and other sweet treats. But the business started very small. It was founded by Debbie White and her son Daniel. Daniel is still a member of the management team with Gary Quinn. The company has grown thanks to Debbie White's commitment. She always knew how to take care of her customers and support them in their creations. With her many ideas, many years of experience and great creative enthusiasm, she always provided new products and enthusiasm for the buyers.

Today, the small trade in Nottingham has grown into a large business with several own brands and a subsidiary. It sells various items for making, decorating and presenting cakes and other desserts. In our shop or in the online shop you can find cake plates, silicone for moulding your own silicone moulds and mats for making elegant Cake Lace borders.

With a mat for Cake Lace and the silicone for silicone moulds, you can create great, individual cakes in no time at all. The application of the border mats is very easy and allows for beautiful creations. Choose a suitable mat and a Cake Lace mass. In our shop you will find some ready-made masses in different, slightly shiny colours. You can also mix other colours with our Cake Lace Mix.

56 ml water
42 g Cake Lace Mix (4 tbsp)
3 g Cake Lace Glue (1 tsp)

If the amounts on the packaging differ from these or if you use a different mix, follow the instructions on the packaging.

Mix the water with the Cake Lace Mix for about two minutes. Then add the Cake Lace Glue and mix for another 5 to 10 minutes. The mixture should now be smooth and homogeneous. For a coloured border, you can now add a little gel or paste colour and mix well. We recommend not using powder or liquid colours, as these would change the consistency and the baking properties.

The finished paste is now applied to the mat of your choice. It is best to use a small angled spatula. Put a little Cake Lace Paste on the silicone mat and spread it well. The paste should be pressed into the indentation of the mat. Once it is all filled, use the angled spatula to scrape off the excess paste. The pattern should be clearly visible, there should be no more Cake Lace paste between the depressions as this would then be visible in the finished pattern. The remaining paste can simply be stored in a tin until next time.

Place the mat on a baking tray. Bake the finished paste at 75-80° Celsius for about 10 minutes. If there are other instructions on the packaging, follow them. Depending on the brand, the recipe and therefore the processing will change slightly. Then try to remove the Cake Lace slightly at the edge with a pointed knife. If this works without any problems, you can remove the mat and leave it to cool. If the mixture is still rubbery and sticks to the mould, bake it for another 3 minutes and then check again whether it can now be removed.

Carefully lift the cooled Cake Lace around the edge with a pointed knife and then simply peel it off. This way it can still be cut to size, used directly or even stored as desired. Some patterns are mirrored in the middle and can be cut into two equal pieces. If you want to keep the borders for a while, you can pack them as airtight as possible and according to the shape. Small pieces can be placed directly on top of each other or separated with a piece of baking paper to prevent them from sticking together. This way, the pieces are placed in a small bag and packed airtight.

Long borders that are used for the edge of cakes, for example, can be rolled up on rolls. For example, take the cardboard roll of kitchen paper and stick a long strip of baking paper to it. This way you can simply place the border on it and roll it up. The roll is then placed in an airtight plastic bag.

Depending on the surface, the border can be applied directly. On Mirror Glaze or slightly dried egg white icing the Cake Lace sticks by itself, on dried cake icing or fondant it can be attached with a little edible glue. This is a simple way to decorate cakes, cookies or cupcakes. At Cake Craft Europe you will find silicone border mats for feathers, magnificent decorations for cake edges, funny motifs or small bows.
