Cornflakes biscuit recipe

Cornflakes and chocolate cakes - our recipe

Cornflakes and chocolate mounds, Hüfeli or chocolate crossies. There are many names for these crispy biscuits, but the ingredients are actually always the same and only two ingredients are needed. Basically, the biscuits consist only of cornflakes and chocolate, which makes them really easy to prepare. The great thing is that you don't even have to bake them. Of course, you can influence the flavour with your choice of couverture or add additional ingredients such as almond slivers, vanilla sugar or spices, but do you really need to? Sometimes the simplest recipe is the best.

As always, you can download the recipe at the end of this post.

Most important key data

Quantity: 30 pieces

Cooling time: approx. 10 minutes

Difficulty level: Medium

Shelf life: 1 month

Ingredients

Cornflakes120 g
Milk couverture | tempered280 g

Making the cornflakes and chocolate heaps

Temper the couverture of your choice. We have used milk couverture as this is what the classic version is made with. Melt 2/3 of the chocolate over a bain-marie and then add 1/3 fresh couverture drops as soon as the chocolate is liquid. To read more about how to temper couverture correctly, take a look at this blog post.

Add the cornflakes to the bowl with the tempered chocolate and then mix everything well with a rubber scraper until the cornflakes are evenly coated with chocolate.

Take about a teaspoonful of the mixture and place it on baking paper. Try to shape them as neatly as possible into small heaps (this works well with 2 teaspoons). Leave the finished cornflakes and chocolate mounds to cool at room temperature for approx. 10 minutes. As you can see, it takes almost no time at all to fill an entire tray with these delicious crunchy cornflakes.

Afterwards, you can easily remove them from the baking paper and either pack them in a biscuit tin or in our beautiful transparent bags with a gold base. You can also spray the chocolate crispies with decorating powder to give them a beautiful gold, bronze or copper lustre. This confectionery is perfect as a gift or small snack for in-between meals and has a wonderfully fine chocolate flavour and should not be missed at Christmas. However, this easy-to-make biscuit can be enjoyed all year round. Refrigeration is not necessary and these biscuits also taste delicious at room temperature.

Storage & shelf life

Traditionally, you store the chocolate cornflakes biscuits in a biscuit tin at room temperature. They can easily be kept for up to a month.
