Brigadeiro - Brazilian condensed milk truffles

Brigadeiros - Condensed milk confectionery

Brigadeiros may not be well known in this country, but once you've tried them, you'll definitely know why they are so popular. Originating from Brazil, the confectionery is easy to make, requires just three ingredients and is pure sin. To make them look good, these little balls of condensed milk and cocoa are rolled in chocolate sprinkles and placed in pretty chocolate capsules. In terms of flavour, they are reminiscent of giants - those chocolate-coated caramel sweets that pull your teeth out of your mouth. By the way, if you can't wait until the mixture has cooled down and you can shape it into balls, I have an insider tip for you: spread the warm brigadeirome mixture on a plate, sprinkle or sieve some powdered milk over it and spoon the mixture off the plate while it is still lukewarm. Pure indulgence - that's a promise!

As always, you can download the recipe at the end of the article.

Brigadeiros

Condensed milk | sweetened300 g
Butter18 g
Cocoa powder35 g
Chocolate sprinklesapprox. 100 g

Production of the brigadeiros

Pour the sweetened condensed milk into a pan with the butter and heat the mixture. As soon as the butter has melted and dissolved in the condensed milk, you can add the cocoa powder.

Stir in the cocoa powder well and cook the mixture, stirring constantly, until it thickens and thickens. This takes about 2 to 3 minutes. Stir the whole time, otherwise the condensed milk will burn.

Pour the thick mixture into a plate and spread with a rubber scraper. Cover it directly on the surface with cling film and leave it to cool in the fridge for approx. 30 minutes.

We recommend wearing gloves for this step.

Take the cooled brigadeiromass out of the fridge and use two teaspoons to cut out "pieces" weighing approx. 15 g from the mass. Shape them into a round ball between your hands. If you don't have gloves, you will need to coat your hands with a little oil, otherwise it will be too sticky.

Place the finished ball in a bowl with the chocolate sprinkles and roll it in them or cover it with the sprinkles until the confectionery is completely coated with them.

You can then place the finished brigadeiros in chocolate capsules and enjoy!

Storage & shelf life

The finished brigadeiros will keep for up to a week in an airtight box in the fridge. For greater enjoyment, we recommend taking the brigadeiros out of the fridge approx. 30 minutes before eating so that they can adjust to room temperature.
